Report 4-24-09

Were going back elk city for the night, we saw some nice structure, got some golf ball sized hail, decent lightning for the day. However the Saturn is not running great, its been hit by a deer, the drivers side windshield wiper blade is broken and the head lights are broken so they dont work well, poor skinner and his car thats about to retire. Got a call from Disco and they want me to drive for a couple days for them now.

Awaiting in Elk City, Oklahoma

This is the Shep & Skin blog and Skin logging in for lazy Shep....sinus infection but still good to go tornado chasing....here's an initiation shot in front of the Duncans'....

Post March 23rd 2009

Saw a Blizzard on the way out, Rotating wall cloud, hail, intense rain and lightning on this chase.
The cells were moving very quickly and seemed to go HP quickly. There were some reports in the area of a very brief tornado touchdown.

Moderate Risk Chasing Today

I will be leaving Greeley at 3am to pick up Katie Crandall and then to go pick up Cameron to meet Tony Laubach and their team sometime after 5am. Were all going to caravan out to Kansas today for a Moderate Risk with a 15% hatched area for tornadoes. Theres talk of when initiation will occur sometime between 3 and 6 CDT and the moisture return. Either way I would still be chasing, so Im not going to stress out about it, but since the moderate risk is because of tornado risk then it should be an interesting day.
